Context
I joined Holke79, a motion design studio, as a part time collaborator on a three month internship. The work was concept exploration: pieces that push a visual idea through motion rather than finished client deliverables. I handled direction and animation.
Insights
Working inside an established studio means learning its language fast and adding to it, not around it. The value is in matching a house style closely enough that the work reads as theirs, then pushing it a step further.
The Problem
A short internship leaves little room to ramp up. I had to absorb the studio's techniques and visual language quickly and produce concept work that held up next to the team's.
The Solution
I directed and animated a set of exploratory pieces: a short documentary on Mexican sign painting, a series of typographic animation concepts, and key art for a skating documentary. Each one applied Holke79's approach to type, 3D, and pacing while testing how far one idea could be pushed.
The Outcome
A body of concept work produced in three months, all in the studio's voice. It shows how quickly I can move into an unfamiliar system and contribute at the studio's level.
